This Zoo Will Name A Cockroach After Your Ex, Then Feed It To A Meerkat On Valentine’s Day

Is this the craziest marketing idea for Valentine’s day ever? “Quit Bugging Me” is not only a unique campaign but we believe it’s a brilliant one. Naming a cockroach after your ex for a meerkat to feast on is clearly the closure you needed.

When thinking about the perfect gift for Valentine’s, El Paso Zoo from Texas came up with this hilarious challenge for the big day. Anyone in the world has the possibility to name a cockroach after an ex-lover, only to be fed to a meerkat the next moment.

“What’s the perfect Valentine’s Day gift? Naming a cockroach after your ex, of course! Message us your ex’s name and we’ll name a cockroach after them! We’ll post names (First and last name initial!) starting February 11 here on Facebook! Watch on Facebook Live or on our website’s Meerkat webcam on Valentine’s Day at 2:15 pm to see them devour these little bugs!” El Paso Zoo posted on their Facebook page.

You can watch the whole show live on the zoo’s website while waiting for your cockroach ex to be eaten by meerkats, a cleansing experience that will literally bury your ex and all your relationship leftovers.

The names that make the list will be displayed starting February 11 and the zoo hopes that this unusual promotion will make the community be more involved with the zoo.

“This is a fun way to get the community involved in our daily enrichment activities. The meerkats love to get cockroaches as a snack and what better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than by feeding them a cockroach named after your ex!” the zoo event coordinator Sarah Borrego told CBS News.
